Description
Three Sisters, Native American sustainable farming, Squash,Corn and Beans.
Men would clear the land in preparation for the planting of the 'three sisters' After the land was cleared, groups of women would then do the planting, weeding and harvesting.
The maize would provide the the structure for the beans to climb, the beans would provide nitrogen for the soil and the squash would block the sun, stopping weeds and would act as a mulch and retaining moisture and the prickly leaves of the squash would deter pests.
